Calling all Game of Throne and Medieval fans!
The Gumeracha Medieval Fair will be held on 4 and 5 May in the lovely Federation Park. There is a promise of two days of medieval fun and excitement. The crowds will come in their thousands with last year estimating 15,000 visitors.
The King’s Horses Equestrian Group will be one of the main attractions, showing off their “Jousting skill at arms” and the Knights and Vikings from local and interstate Medieval Re-enactment Groups will go at it again in the Combat Arena with increased vigour.
Event goers will also be treated with the performances by the Ironclad Academy of the Sword Knights, Vikings (from simply everywhere!) as well as the Border Celts, graceful girls of the Cloudhouse Bellydancers, Gawler Irish Dancing Club, and the Lancashire Witches.
Come and see the Viking encampments where you can witness demonstrations of cooking and craftwork that was done in those early Iron Age days and wander through the village. The very popular “Merchants Lane” will offer a wide range of medieval-style crafts and activities.
Musicians from across the state will provide medieval folk music from many cultural backgrounds. W
The dedicated children’s area will have storytellers, face painters, children’s costume-maker, wooden sword-making, as well as a native animal nursery and the popular Punch and Judy show to ensure there was a lot for the whole family to enjoy.
On Saturday night the Town Hall will be alive with medieval feasting and BYO drinks (from the selection found in the Tavern) and lots of entertainment as well with “Top of the Torrens Players” as our Mein Hosts.
So much fun to be had! Dress up and come along to enjoy the fun.
Open times are 10am – 5pm Saturday, and 10am – 4pm Sunday.
